1979 Fiat Spider 2000
Starting with the 1979 model year, Fiat changed the name of the 124 Spider to Spider 2000. A minor redesign included new front grille and hood, and flush-mounted door handles.
Standard equipment on the Spider included a twin-cam 4-cylinder motor, five-speed manual transmission, and four-wheel disc brakes. This was the first year that an automatic transmission was offered.
