Third-year 'Task Force' Chevy pickups received a distinctive new grille that would be a one-year feature only. Optional small-block V8 displacement increased to 283-cid.
Five transmissions were now available on Chevy's truck line; a three-speed manual, heavy-duty three-speed manual, three-speed manual with overdrive, four-speed manual, or GM's Hydra-matic automatic.
